5 Great Home Time Management
Tools
We all seem to struggle mightily when it comes to properly
managing our time. For this reason home time management tools
are growing in popularity. The good news for consumers is that
there are many different types of tools that are available.
With the wide selection on the market you should be able to
find something that will work for the time managing needs of
you and your family.
Below you will find some of the truly amazing home time
management tools that I have found on the market for consumers
that are ready and able to use them. In many cases simple
Internet searches for the terms below will turn up a wide
variety of options that will keep you on task and on target
when it comes to properly managing your time.
1) PDAs. This term is short for Personal Digital
Assistant. This nifty device does it all and so much more.
While many people think of these, as exclusively for business
functions they are also more than slightly useful when it comes
to home time management tools. With the right software these
devices are far more effective than a simple calendar.
2) Charts. While these are often thought of as
organizational tools, time management is to some degree the
proper organization of time. You can use charts to divide your
day into quarter hour segments. During those quarter hours set
mini goals for yourself or your family member. You'll be amazed
at how this little system will keep things at home running
smoothly on a daily basis. Once you've established a routine of
home time management, tools won't be quite as necessary as they
have been in the past.
3) Dry Erase Boards. I know this sounds silly but
in a world where there seems to be daily practice for something
(particularly in families that have more than one child) these
devices are priceless in their value as home time management
tools. At the beginning of each week you need to write down the
plan for each and every day of the week making sure that
nothing is missed. This helps you plan for extra things such as
grocery store runs, etc. in a more time effective manner rather
than going once everyone has gotten home for the day.
4) Crock Pots. Believe it or not, a great deal of
time is wasted each evening debating what will be for dinner.
By the end of our day we are tired and do not feel like putting
a tremendous effort into what we will be having for dinner that
evening. This is where menu planning and a crock-pot will
become lifesavers in addition to outstanding home time
management tools. By preparing your evening meal in the morning
when you are fresh and ready to face the day you save the time
that would have been spent preparing your meal in addition to
the time spent deciding what the meal will be.
5) Egg timers. Believe it or not, teaching your
children to manage their time properly is one of the greatest
gifts you can give them. You can help children learn these
skills by engaging the use of egg timers as home time
management tools for many of the tasks they have each and every
day: two-minutes for brushing their teeth, 15 minute room clean
ups, 10 minute baths, things that ordinarily rob your children
of fun time. Be sure to reward them for finishing ahead of the
buzzer for greater effect.
While this is hardly inclusive these home time management tools
will help your family have more time set aside for the
important things.
