Top Five Benefits to Developing a Plan of Action
Developing a plan of action may seem unnecessary to many people. Some people may feel that everything they need is
stored in their mind; therefore it would be redundant to create a plan of action. With most workers having way too
much to do these days however, it is best to create a plan of action for each day, or for each major task. There
are many benefits to creating plans for your tasks. These five benefits are some of the most important.
Health
When it comes to life, your health is the most important aspect. If you take care of your body, then you will be
more productive overall. If you neglect your health however, you will not feel well, will contract more illnesses,
and will not be able to do your best work. When you have no plan of action, it is easy to neglect your health,
without even being aware of your behavior. If you are a person who "forgets" to eat lunch, you are automatically
neglecting your health, leaving yourself open for trouble. Making a plan of action allows you to recognize that
your health is important and doing minor things like feeding or exercising your body will make your overall
production levels higher.
Happiness
Those who refuse to create To-Do lists or plans of action are risking their overall happiness. When you are
overwhelmed and stressed with extensive thoughts of what needs to be accomplished, there is no way you will be able
to enjoy your friends, family, or life in general. Creating a plan of action for each day or for each major task
allows you the freedom to enjoy life, especially when you are not "scheduled" to worry about other tasks. Just by
putting your tasks down on paper, you are liberating yourself. If you are feeling anxiety, try making a list and
prioritizing it by what is urgent and what can wait. Then, you can stop worrying and start getting productive and
happy!
Productivity
Knowing exactly what needs to be done and creating a plan to accomplish the tasks at hand is a great way to boost
your productivity. Many workers waste incredible amounts of time because they are not completely on task. They may
be working, but may be jumping from one thing to another, leaving nothing completely finished. By creating a plan
of action, you can feel confident that the most important tasks are getting done first. When you are completely
focused on the task at hand, it will likely be a higher quality of work than if you are going between several tasks
at one time. Develop a plan of attack and get those tasks done without stress!
Finances
A plan of action works great at work, but it can also work wonderfully for your personal life. Your finances are
one place where developing a plan of action is essential. If you have several credit cards that you simply pay on
each month, consider developing a plan to get the cards paid off in six months or a year. Sit down and figure out
how much you will have to send the credit company each month and when the cards will be paid off. Many people who
get behind in their bills do so because they are too busy to open their mail and pay the bills. They "forget" to
pay everything, leaving their finances in a mess. Make a monthly budget and keep it near your computer. This will
help you remember what needs to be paid and when. With a plan of action, your finances will never look better.
Reputation
When you are a person that gets things done, you will gain a great reputation for being a successful person. This
can be great for your business life as well as your personal life. Everyone wants to feel like a success and
creating a plan of action for your day is a great way to help you accomplish that feeling. Your boss will notice
the "take charge" attitude and likely praise you for it, while your co-workers will wonder how you get so much done
while never stressing about it. Not only will creating a plan of action help you get things done, but it will
change the way others view you as well.
