Time Management Curses Prove Simple to
Vanquish
Disorganization is probably the biggest of all time management
curses that plague us professionally and personally. The good
news is that identifying the problem is the first step towards
addressing the problems and finding a solution. This by no
means implies that disorganization is the only curse around
when it comes to time management. The absolute truth of the
matter is that there are many time management curses that
plague us as individuals. Some of them are much more difficult
to identify than others.
You can't begin to repair your time management problems until
you've identified your time management curses. Some of the more
common curses known to those who suffer from difficulties with
time management include the following.
1) Disorganization. Not knowing at any given
time where every paper, pencil, form, flyer, note from the
teacher, lunch box, backpack, library book, set of car keys,
etc at any given time can cost you a great deal of your day
spent searching for those items. The same goes for laundry,
lunches, and countless other items that are needed throughout
your day in order to keep things flowing smoothly. Take the
steps to get organized in your personal and professional life
in order to avoid the serious consequence of this most woeful
of time management curses.
2) Procrastination. It really is amazing to me
how the biggest curses in life are often those that we bring
upon ourselves. One of the biggest time management curses is
procrastination and we really only have ourselves to blame for
that particular curse. Learning to identify the behavior that
leads to procrastination in your life, the activities that
display procrastination, and what you can do to change the
pattern is vital to your time management success.
3) Distractions. When working, it is best to
have as much uninterrupted work time as possible. Every
distraction is just another of the many time management curses
that eats away at your productivity day after day. In order to
avoid this, try not taking breaks unless necessary, avoid
checking your emails constantly, let voice mail answer your
calls and return them immediately before or right after breaks
rather than answering the phone every time it rings. Try to
keep all your errands in one trip rather than making several,
and try to schedule meetings and appointments around break
times in order to avoid interrupting your workflow.
4) Learn to say "No!" This is something that
far too many people have a great deal of difficulty
accomplishing. The truth of the matter is that we simply do not
have enough time in the day to do everything that everyone
wishes us to do. For this reason you must learn to say no or
forever be faced with this most uncivilized of time management
curses.
The great thing about time management curses, if you can say
there is a great thing is that they are by no means permanent
situations. You can take the steps you need in order to fix
them if you are willing to hold yourself accountable and really
work on this problem. Getting rid of those time management
curses that plague your life will open many doors of
opportunity to come your way.
Vanquishing the more common of these time management curses is
as simple as learning to identify the contributing behavior in
your life and eliminating it. While it sounds simple and is
quite simple it also requires a good deal of self-control in
order to succeed. I have a strong feeling that if you are
reading this you are ready to put every possible effort into
ridding your life of these time management curses.
